The Chair of the Friendship Group for North and South America, Australia, Oceania and Japan Damir Arnaut talked to a member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Brazil

The Chair of the Friendship Group for North and South America, Australia, Oceania and Japan Damir Arnaut talked today in Sarajevo to a member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Brazil Helio Jose who is on an official visit to our country.

Emphasizing the fact that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Brazil are friendly as well as that the two countries share values that are characterized by multiethnic and multicultural countries, Mr. Arnaut welcomed announced establishment of contacts and visits at the high level and expressed his confidence that the visit of a member of Brazilian Senate would also contribute to the advancement of bilateral relations.

Expressing his gratitude for this meeting, Senator Jose recalled that Brazil is the only country in South and Central America that has an embassy and a resident ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and stressed that he expects that this fact will positively influence the strengthening of cooperation, especially on the economic agenda

They both stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina has significant untapped potentials, especially in the energy sector. In this connection, Senator Jose pointed out the experience of Brazilian companies in construction of hydropower plants, wind power plants, and the use of solar energy and biomass energy.

They discussed possibilities for Brazilian investments in railway and road infrastructure, as well as the increase of export of the arms industry products from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Brazil. A proposal was also made for state institutions to participate in the organization of workshops or seminars for businessmen from two countries with the aim of establishing contacts, cooperation and exchange of information on possible investments.

During the meeting, also attended by the Ambassador of Brazil to Bosnia and Herzegovina Manoel Gomes-Pereira, the participants discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperation between the two state parliaments both at the level of the leadership and at the level of the working bodies and delegations of friendship groups. Senator Jose invited the members of the PA BiH Friendship Group to visit both houses of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Brazil. (End)
