A Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH took part in meetings of the Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum and the First Southeast Europe Parliamentary Forum in Vienna

Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), comprising of a member of the PABiH House of Representatives, Predrag Kožul, and delegate of the PABiH House of Peoples, Ljilja Zovko, participated in the meeting of the Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the Energy Community in Vienna.

Along with members of our Delegation, the Parliamentary Plenum Meeting, at which a number of important documents related to the way of work and security of energy supply was adopted, was attended by delegations from eight member states of the Treaty establishing the Energy Community.

Preliminary Rules of Procedure was adopted at the meeting, which will be sent to the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community for final approval. At the proposal of the BiH Delegation, two amendments were adopted to the proposed text of the Preliminary Rules of Procedure.

The Report on Security of Energy Supply in the Energy Community Region was adopted, which was jointly prepared by a representative of the Parliament of Ukraine and the European Parliament in the Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum.

In the Report that was adopted, Member States of the European Union and the Energy Community, call for greater solidarity in creating security of electricity and gas supplies, and on Energy Community Member States to consistently implement the Third Energy Package, as well as to accept the objectives of the EU 2030 Energy Strategy in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (a reduction for 40% compared to 1990), an increase in energy from renewable sources (up to 27% in total consumption) and an increase in energy efficiency (savings of at least 27% in relation to conventional consumption).

During the meeting, the Director of the Secretariat of the Energy Community, Janez Kopač, presented the current situation of the implementation of the Treaty establishing the Energy Community in the Member States, and presented the activities of the Energy Community in 2018. He particularly emphasized the transposition and implementation of the Third Energy Package in countries where this has not yet been done, as well as the adoption and implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive.

On the second day of their stay in Vienna, members of the PABiH Delegation took part in the work of the First South-East Europe Parliamentary Forum, which was dedicated to energy efficiency and policy making for sustainable climate development. (End)
