Members of the Joint Collegium of both houses of the PA BiH met with the President of Montenegro
Members of the Joint Collegium of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) spoke today with the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, who is on an official visit to our country.
Sending messages of friendship, cooperation and the need to establish even stronger good neighbourly relations, Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH Dr. Denis Zvizdić and Marinko Čavara, Deputy Speakers of the House of Peoples of the PA BiH Dr. Nikola Špirić and Kemal Ademović, and Member of the House of Representatives Miroslav Vujičić on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nebojša Radmanović and the Chair of the Croatian People's Club in the House of Peoples, Marina Pendeš, on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Peoples PA BiH Dr. Dragan Čović, pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro share key foreign policy goals, among which the European path and regional cooperation are integral and key part.
Expressing satisfaction with his arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Milatović said that he feels like a friend among friends, and added that Montenegro considers good neighbourly cooperation as the basis of its foreign policy. He said that he considers cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina to be extremely important, and called for joint engagement in solving key infrastructure projects, especially the Sarajevo-Podgorica road, the Foča-Plužine section, as well as work on the construction of road and railway roads within the Adriatic-Ionian corridors.
President Milatović assessed that both the citizens and the economies of the two countries expect improvement in economic cooperation and facilitation of the movement of people, goods and capital, and, in this sense, advocated for the implementation of the agreement on the construction of joint border crossings between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
He emphasized that Montenegro fully supports the integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina and added that the two countries have a common European future. Emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro have excellent and friendly relations, as well as that our country with Montenegro, as the only country in the region, has resolved the border issue, members of the Joint Collegium of both houses of the PA BiH assessed that there is a lot of room for better economic cooperation and a significant increase in foreign trade exchange. They supported the need to resolve the issue of the infrastructural connection between the two countries, as well as the construction of common crossings, and advocated stronger inter-parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of experience and technical assistance on the two countries' path to EU membership.
President Milatović, on behalf of the people of Montenegro and in his own name, expressed his sincere condolences to the families and all the institutions and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the natural disaster that took human lives and caused great material damage in our country, and expressed the hope that the entire region in Bosnia and Herzegovina, affected by floods and landslides, be restored as soon as possible and returned to normal life.
