Representatives and delegates of the PA BiH held a meeting with members of the CEC

Deputies and delegates of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) held a meeting today with the President of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH, Suad Arnautović, and members of the CEC of BiH, Vlado Rogić, Željko Bakalar and Jovan Kalaba, where they exchanged information, opinions and views on The Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the BiH Election Law, which will be considered at the 10th emergency session of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH.

The meeting was convened on the basis of the conclusion adopted at the 14th regular session of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH by which the president and members of the CEC of BiH are invited to organize a meeting with representatives of all political parties in the PA BiH in order to present proposals for changes to the electoral legislation and proposals for the adoption of the electoral process integrity package (introduction of new technologies into the electoral process), as well as proposals for improving the process of resolving election disputes.

During the meeting attended by members of the House of Representatives Jasmin Emrić, Šerif Špago, Safet Kešo, Saša Magazinović, Miroslav Vujičić, Sabina Ćudić, Milan Dunović and Nenad Grković, and delegates in the House of Peoples Zdenko Ćosić, Džemal Smajić and Zlatko Miletić, members of the CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the previous activities related to the changes in the electoral legislation regarding the improvement of the electoral process integrity and the introduction of new technologies.

The members of the CEC said that, after PA BiH adopts changes to the Election Law of BiH, they are ready to intensify activities on the introduction of new technologies to ensure a safer, more efficient and more credible election process. They also said that, after the adoption of the amendments to the Election Law of BiH, they planned to implement a pilot project for the introduction of new technologies at 165 polling stations in 10 municipalities in BiH this year, which would be implemented on a voluntary basis.

Most of the participants evaluated the meeting as a useful exchange of opinions and expressed the need to improve communication between the PA BiH and the CEC of BiH with the aim of searching for the best solutions for improving the electoral process. (end)
