Members of Collegium of both Houses of the parliamentary Assembly of BiH met with the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO

Speakers of the both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović and Bariša Čolak, the members of Collegium of the House of Representatives Borjana Krišto and Mladen Bosić and a member of Collegium of the House of Peoples Safet Softić, spoke today with the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO-a (NATO PA) Paolo Alli on further course of Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The president of NATO PA and the MP in the Parliament of Italy Paolo Alli, who participates in 94th Rose Roth seminar, organized jointly by the PA NATO and PA BiH, expressed his gratitude to the highest officials of PA BiH on the successful co-organization of the seminar and said that the seminar is a good opportunity for an open discussion on political problems and security issues in the Western Balkan region, and gives important contributions to the deepening of partnership between BiH and NATO.

Commending the activity and contribution of the PA BiH delegation in the work of the NATO PA, Mr. Alli pointed out that parliamentarians of member states of NATO strongly support the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH and consider that the process could not be completed without the Western Balkans countries. In this regard, the president of NATO PA expressed readiness of the organization to help and support BiH institutions in the implementing of reforms and efforts to accelerate the integrations in European Union and NATO.

Members of the Collegium of the both Houses of BiH PA highlighted the fact that the institutions of our country, despite the complex political situation and difficult activities, work on fulfilling the conditions for membership in EU and NATO, which are, as their noted, two key foreign policy goals of BiH. In this regard, members of collegium of both houses of BiH PA reminded on the fact that BiH Presidency adopted “Defense review”, and that the activities on registering of perspective military property are conducted, which are, as they said, fulfilling the conditions for activation the Membership Action Plan in NATO (MAP).

Emphasizing the importance of the activating the MAP for BiH, members of Collegium of BiH PA stressed the readiness of the institutions of BiH to continue together with NATO partners to participate in peacekeeping missions, as well as to work on combating global problems of radical extremism, terrorism and migrant crisis.

The meeting of members of the collegium of both Houses with the President of NATO PA's Paolo Alli was also attended by Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH in NATO PA's Nikola Lovrinovic. (end)
