The delegation of PABiH in PACE participated in the third part of PACE's regular session in Strasbourg

The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), composed of the Head of the Delegation Saša Magazinović and members Darijana Filipović, Branislav Borenović, Sabina Ćudić, Mladen Bosić and Mia Karamehić – Abazović, participated in the third part of the regular session of the PACE which was held in Strasbourg.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the participants of the PSVE summer session, after the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe decided at the beginning of the week to establish a Special Court for crimes of aggression against Ukraine and after the relevant agreement was signed by President Zelenskyy and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset.

The Prime Minister of Malta, Robert Abela, as well as the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, addressed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe during the session.

During the discussion on current issues, PACE members talked about the European Court of Human Rights and facing the challenges of our time, the protection of human rights through sports, the Olympic movement and peacekeeping.

According to the emergency procedure, PACE members discussed global peace, stopping the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, and the conflict in the Middle East.

The following topics were also discussed during the plenary session: the legal and human rights aspects of the aggression against Ukraine, the support for political negotiations for the release of prisoners of war, the proposal for a protocol to amend the European Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, the promotion of inclusive participation in parliamentary life, women's rights in Europe, saving the lives of migrants at sea and the protection of their human rights, as well as the challenges and needs of public and private actors involved in migration management. The participants also discussed the need to urgently release persons who are victims of political persecution in Georgia, and the guidelines for a sustainable and socially fair energy transition.

During regular June session of the PACE, the Vigdis Award for Women's Empowerment was also awarded to the Women of the Sun organization from Palestine, which strives to create pathways and opportunities for Palestinian women to enter traditionally male-dominated fields, including politics, business and technology.

The next regular session will be held at the end of September this year in Strasbourg. (end)
