Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the PA BiH, Kemal Ademović, meets in Copenhagen with FRONTEX Deputy Executive Director

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Kemal Ademović, met with the Deputy Executive Director of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), Aija Kalnaja, on the sidelines of the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) held in Copenhagen (Kingdom of Denmark).

Mr Ademović inquired about the progress in the implementation of the Status Agreement between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ms Kalnaja expressed FRONTEX’s full readiness to put the Agreement into operation and commence its implementation by the end of the year. She anticipates that, in the near future, European Union officers will be deployed at selected border crossing points in Bosnia and Herzegovina under the command of the Border Police of BiH. Under the Agreement, they will assist the Border Police of BiH and other agencies in both technical and personnel capacities to manage the border more efficiently, reduce the incidence of illegal migration, and ensure the prevention and prosecution of cross-border criminal activity.
