Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the PA BiH, Dr. Dragan Čović received the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to BiH on his inaugural visit.

"The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Dr. Dragan Čović, received today in the PA BiH the new ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. E. Emin Aksekija.

During the conversation, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and addressed topics of mutual interest. Emphasis was placed on continuing partnership in areas that contribute to the country's progress, such as strengthening the rule of law, accelerating European reforms, and further developing cooperation within the framework of Euro-Atlantic integration.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Dr. Čović welcomed Ambassador Akseki and wished him a successful mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the significant role of Türkiye in supporting the strengthening of institutions that ensure stability and contribute to the realization of the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized that Türkiye, as a member of the NATO alliance, is an important partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina in strengthening defence capacities and implementing NATO integration. Considering the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Dayton Agreement, he emphasized the importance of preserving peace and constitutional order, and the need to amend electoral legislation for the legitimate political representation of the constituent peoples.

Ambassador Akseki thanked for the warm welcome, and confirmed Türkiye’s commitment to continue strengthening democratic standards, achieving strategic goals and further strengthening institutions that serve all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He particularly emphasized Turkey's willingness to support BiH in reform processes, strengthening of institutions, and the country's European and Euro-Atlantic path, confirming support for peace, stability, territorial integrity and constitutional order of BiH, emphasizing the importance of equality and cooperation with the three constituent peoples.
