Member of the PA BiH House of Representatives Nenad Grković participated in the meeting of the Parliamentary Forum of the Energy Community in Brussels

Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Grković participated in the meeting of the Parliamentary Plenum of the Energy Community, which was held today in Brussels.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the contracting parties of the Energy Community and representatives of the European Parliament. The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the European Parliament's Committee for Industry, Research and Energy Borys Budka, the head of the European Commission's Department for Energy Community Relations with Member States Yolanda Garcia Mezquita and the director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions on the availability of electricity and the integration of renewable energy sources.
The Director of the Secretariat of the Energy Community, Artur Lorkowski, emphasized the importance of a fair and inclusive energy transition in the member countries. Speaking about challenges such as inflation and rising prices, he warned of growing energy poverty and the need for long-term, sustainable solutions based on energy efficiency and social protection. He especially emphasized that no citizen should be neglected in that process.
Representatives of the Energy Community emphasized the importance of market integration for improving energy efficiency, as well as the need for financial support from the European Union to protect vulnerable households and support the energy transition.
The focus was on the complete transposition and implementation of the Electricity Integration Package, which aims to enable cross-border access to cheap electricity, reduce prices, increase security of supply and open markets for new investments, especially in renewable energy sources.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the benefits of price convergence through market integration.
During the Plenum, an important discussion on the integration of renewable energy sources was opened, whereby the key role of parliaments in establishing a stable and predictable regulatory framework that will enable the acceleration of the energy transition was emphasized. The need for additional investments in infrastructure, innovation and cross-border projects that support decarbonization and reducing dependence on fossil fuels was also emphasized.
Also, the participants pointed out the importance of regional cooperation, as a foundation for building a resilient energy system. At the meeting, it was concluded that legislative action has a decisive role in improving the energy transition, and that the coordinated action of the states of the contracting parties and the institutions of the Energy Community is key to achieving the goals of a sustainable energy future.
With this Plenum, the Energy Community once again showed its commitment to joint action in order to ensure a fair, safe and green energy system for all citizens, it was concluded at the meeting of the Parliamentary Plenum of the Energy Community in Brussels.
