Commission for cooperation with emigration
The Commission for Cooperation with the Diaspora considers issues relating to: proposing measures to improve cooperation between the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora and developing inter-institutional coordination for cooperation with the diaspora; giving opinions on all matters in the field of cooperation with the diaspora considered by the House; establishing and maintaining regular contacts with all state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as authorities at lower levels of government dealing with cooperation with the diaspora; establishing and maintaining regular contacts with all non-governmental and other organisations dealing with the status of emigrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad; cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the preparation of strategic and other documents relating to the status of emigrants; holding regular meetings, conferences, round tables and other events to consider the status of emigrants and propose measures to improve their position; regular visits to communities of emigrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad and monitoring their status in host countries; creating conditions for the return of emigrants to Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to involve them in the political, economic and cultural life of Bosnia and Herzegovina; creating conditions for more active participation of emigrants in the development of investments and projects aimed at the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina; establishing cooperation with similar commissions and parliamentary bodies in host countries where emigrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina live, with the aim of improving their status in those countries; and exercising parliamentary oversight over all bodies and institutions dealing with diaspora issues.
The Commission also considers other issues in the field of cooperation with the diaspora.
Note: At its 35th session, held on 22 January 2026, the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted Amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, establishing the Commission for Cooperation with the Diaspora as a permanent working body of this House.
