Members of the Committee for Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Traffic and Communications talked with the members of the Delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Czech Republic

Members of the Committee for Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Traffic and Communications of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Sead Kadić, Mario Karamatić, Ognjen Tadić and Martin Raguž met today in Sarajevo with members of the Delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Czech Republic, who are in a several-day official visit to our country.

Stressing that there are no open issues in friendly relations between the two countries, distinguished Czech guests were interested in the dynamics of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking of these processes, Czech senators emphasized that the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union (EU) and NATO represents the interests of the EU member states. In this connection, members of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Committee of the Czech Republic Senate expressed their conviction that Bosnia and Herzegovina will in the future be one of the key elements of European security, which is, as they have emphasized, inconceivable without the accession of all Western Balkan states.

Guests from the Czech Republic stressed the need to continue the good cooperation between the Committees of the PA BiH and the Committee of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, as well as cooperation at the level of the leadership of two parliaments and expressed the view that parliamentary cooperation can significantly contribute to raising the level of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude to the Czech Republic for its strong support to the European and Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as numerous projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, health and public administration reform, members of the Committee for Foreign Trade, Customs, Traffic and Communications of the House of Peoples of the PA BiH expressed the conviction that the realization of development projects in BiH will remain one of the key priorities of the Government and the Czech Parliament in the Western Balkans region.

It was pointed out during the meeting that there are different views in BiH regarding the NATO integration process, but however, that there is the consensus of all significant political actors when it comes to the EU integration process of BiH. In this connection, there is an expectation that our country, in spite of certain obstacles on the European path, will have candidate status for EU membership next year. (End)
