Members of the PABiH Delegation met with the Vice-President of the House of Representatives of the Argentinian Congress in Buenos Aires

Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Ognjen Tadić, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Trade and Customs of the PABiH House of Representatives, Šemsudin Mehmedović, and the Chair of the Committee on Finance and Budget of the PABiH House of Representatives, Predrag Kožul, spoke in Buenos Aires with the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine National Congress, Patricia Gimenez, on improving bilateral relations of the two friendly countries.

Thanking for the excellent organisation of the Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as for the hospitality extended by the Argentine National Congress to all delegations of countries participating in the Conference, Speaker Tadić emphasized that the PABiH Delegation’s mission in Buenos Aires was to influence parliamentarians from WTO Member States, as well as representatives of leading multilateral parliamentary organizations around the world to help BiH complete its negotiations as soon as possible and become a full-fledged WTO member.

In that respect, Speaker Tadić informed Ms. Gimenez that BiH is still holding bilateral trade negotiations with Brazil, Russia and Ukraine, and asked for support from Argentina, as a country that has an important role in the WTO.

According to Tadić, BiH's membership in the WTO represents proof of compliance with certain foreign trade standards, which is why it is treated as an important part of the integrated process that leads our country towards membership in the European Union.

Expressing understanding for Bosnia's aspiration to become a full-fledged WTO member, Ms. Gimenez promised that officials from Argentina's highest legislative institution would help BiH achieve its goal and successfully end the negotiations on membership in the WTO with the remaining three countries.

During the meeting, it was jointly noted that the cooperation between the two state parliaments needs to be raised to a higher level. In this regard, it was agreed to strengthen the engagement of the parliamentary friendship groups which should lead to the exchange of visits at the management level and working bodies of the PABiH and the Congress of Argentina.
