Chairman of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of BiH Sifet Podzić in Sofia participates in the work of the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign, Security and Defence Policy of the EU

Chairman of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of BiH Sifet Podzić participates in the work of the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign, Security and Defence Policy of the European Union, which began today in Sofia within the six-month EU Presidency of the European Union (EU).

The two-day meeting of parliamentarians will be held in the capital of Bulgaria and focused on the EU enlargement process and on the European perspective of the Western Balkans after the adoption of the EU Strategy for the region.

The Conference speakers included the President of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Tsveta Karayancheva, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Dzhem Grozdanova and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament David McAllister. It was emphasized in the introductory remarks that the highest priority of the Bulgarian presidency was devoted to work and support to the European perspective of the Western Balkans

Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security also addressed the parliamentarians within the session on the priorities and strategies of the European foreign, security and defence policy.

In addition to discussing the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Western Balkan Countries, the Conference also considered strengthening of EU and NATO cooperation, EU military capabilities development, the situation in the Black Sea countries, as well as the topic "EU as a global player one year after signing Roman Declarations ".
