Activities of the BiH PA Permanent Delegation at the third part of the annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE)

 
After the opening of the third part of the annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), various Committee meetings were held, attended by members of the BiH PA Permanent Delegation in the PACE. Milica Marković and Nermina Kapetanović attended the meeting of the Committee for Legal Affairs and Human Rights; Borjana Krišto and Krunoslav Vrdoljak attended the meeting of the Committee for Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons; while Ismeta Dervoz attended the session of the Committee for Equality and non-Discrimination, as well as the Committee for Culture, Science, Education, and the Media.

Moreover, Dr. Nermina Kapetanović also participated in Committee for Legal Affairs and Human Rights discussions, as well as discussions on the election of members of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhumane Behaviour. Dr. Kapetanović also attended the meeting of the Sub-Committee for Human Rights.

During the PACE session, discussions and votes on the following topics were held: “Corruption as a Threat to the Rule of Law,” “An Equal Approach to Health Care,” “The Fight against Discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Birth Identity,” “Post-monitoring Dialogue with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia,” “Separation of Political from Criminal Responsibility,” and “End Forced Sterilization and Castration.”

Furthermore, the PACE held an urgent discussion on religious persecution in Iran, the situation in Georgia, and the protests and threats to the freedom of assembly, media and expression. Moreover, a discussion on the current issue “The Interference of the State in Private Life on the Internet” was held.

The members of the BiH PA Delegation attended meetings of PACE political groups, which were held prior to the opening of the session of the Parliamentary Assembly. The members also met with Amir Šahović, BiH Ambassador in Strasbourg. During the conversation, information on current improvements in BiH was exchanged, as well as the fulfilment of obligations, and potential future steps. (end)
