The Chair and Deputy Chair of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of BiH Jasmin Imamović and Marina Pendeš spoke with the commander of EUFOR in BiH

The Chair and Deputy Chair of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of BiH, Jasmin Imamović and Marina Pendeš, held a meeting today in Sarajevo with the commander of EUFOR in BiH, Major General Helmut Habermayer and his associates.

During the meeting, Imamović and Pendeš informed General Habermayer about the activities of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of BiH after its constitution in the new convocation and the work plan for 2023, as well as their view of the situation in the defines and security sector in BiH. They also presented their views regarding the possibility of increasing the budget for the defines and security sector with the aim of modernizing equipment and working to raise the standards of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They especially emphasized the importance of equipping the Demining Battalion of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

General Habermayer informed the hosts on the activities of the EUFOR Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the complete commitment of EUFOR members to preserving peace, stability and security in BiH. The commander of EUFOR in BiH also expressed his readiness to, in accordance with the mandate of the Mission, assist the Armed Forces of BiH in their further training through the implementation of joint exercises and activities that are important for all citizens of BiH.

Imamović and Pendeš presented to General Habermayer their view of the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, assessing that there are visible positive developments that create a better atmosphere for solving numerous issues, especially those related to the fulfilment of the conditions for membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union.
