The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Božo Ljubić, meets the President of Federal Republic of Germany

Today in Strasburg, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Božo Ljubić, talked with the President of the German Bundestag, Norbert Lammert. On this occasion, Dr. Ljubić also thanked to the Federal Republic of Germany for the support given to BiH's progress and the building of stability.

He also, informed President Lammert that currently, in essence, the most important European Road for BiH is through changes to the Constitution of BiH, based on the ruling of the European Court in the Sejdić - Finci Case.

The efforts to implement this ruling opened BiH to an important matter - the situation of the three constituent peoples, who have different circumstances due to the asymmetrical structure of BiH and the decreased number of Croats, as a consequence of war. In that context, resolving the Croat position is key to the stability, functionality and future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dr. Ljubić added that in BiH there are intensive conversations between political leaders about the requests that the EU has set before our country. At the same time the possible consequences of entrance to EU by the Republic of Croatia next year, and the progress of Serbia and Monte Negro on their European road are also being observed and studied. He asked for Germany to continue its active role towards BiH, within the EU and in bilateral relations, as it is very helpful to our country.

The President of the Bundestag, Norbert Lammert, stressed that Germany will continue supporting the European Road of BiH, but before BiH joins the EU, internal issues must be resolved. Furthermore, Lammert reflected on the EU's negative experience with Cyprus, which, regardless of joining the EU, still has unresolved internal problems. (end)
